Teens break into restaurant

Published 11:59 a.m., December 21, 2009

Two Richville teens are under investigation for allegedly breaking into a Richville restaurant and fleeing authorities around 11 p.m. Friday.

According to the Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy was passing the Rocking Horse Cafe when he observed a pickup parked outside the closed restaurant. When the pickup left the restaurant at a high rate of speed and without headlights, the deputy followed, eventually locating the truck in Richville. One of the juveniles, the driver of the pickup, had fled on foot, while the passenger, also a juvenile male, remained in the vehicle. He was taken into custody and released to his parents, according to the sheriff’s office. The other suspect was located later and questioned by authorities.

Authorities found numerous cans and bottles of alcoholic beverages in the truck; they are believed to have come from the restaurant. One of the suspects told authorities they forced open a rear access of the building to gain entry.
