WAHPETON- The Underwood boys basketball team didn’t show to be much of a match for its North Dakota counterpart as they were routed 76-39 by Hankinson in game one of the three day Minnesota/North Dakota Shootout at the North Dakota State College of Science Monday evening.

Dalton Jampsa had 14 points and 10 rebounds while Collin Teich added 13 points, but the Rockets as a team shot just 33 percent from the field.

The Rockets (2-4) committed 31 turnovers and were out-rebounded 46-27 by the Pirates.

“We played aggressive, just didn’t shot the ball well,” Rockets’ coach Curt Olson said. “They pressured us all night leading to many of the turnovers and several easy lay-ups for them.”

Hankinson’s Garrett Stein led all scorers with 21 points.

Underwood trailed 39-19 at the half.

MN/ND Shootout action for the Rockets continues Tuesday against Lidgerwood; tip-off is at 5:30 p.m.
