Published 11:18 a.m., December 25, 2009

Christmas Eve turned tragic for a Fergus Falls family when a 34-year man was killed and four family members injured in a head-on collision Thursday night in Becker County.

Robert Krensing, 34, 27056 Riverside Dr., Fergus Falls, died at St. Mary’s Hospital in Detroit Lakes after being involved head-on crash on Highway 34 near Osage, about 30 miles east of Detroit Lakes.

Robert Krensing and three children were passengers in a 2001 Chrysler passenger car driven by Keli Krensing, 34. Donald Larson, 67, of Detroit Lakes, was westbound in a 2005 Dodge Caravan when he crossed the center line on a curve and collided with the eastbound Krensing vehicle, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

Keli Krensing and the Krensing children — Allison Krensing, 11; Kaitlyn Krensing, 7; and Myia Krensing, 3 — all sustained minor injuries and were also taken to St. Mary’s Hospital in Detroit Lakes.

Larson sustained no injuries. Alcohol was not a factor in the accident, the State Patrol said.

The accident was reported at about 5:30 p.m. at Mile marker 61, about a half mile east of Hanna Ore Road. Icy road conditions were reported at the time of the accident, the state patrol stated.
