Hospital’s physical therapy is the best

Published 01:12 p.m., February 16, 2009

I would like to express my thanks to the staff of Lake Region Hospital's physical therapy department.

As a very active individual, my life was changed in seconds by a knee injury. The torn ACL, and subsequent reconstructive surgery that involved harvesting healthy hamstring tendons to replace the torn ACL, left my left leg immobilized.

My first physical therapy session with Al Yeutter of LRH involved ultrasound therapy to reduce swelling and simply trying to tighten the muscles in my leg (which I was at first unable to do). Over the weeks I progressed in a multitude of exercises with increasing weights.

Throughout the recovery process, physical therapy was the high point of my days. The friendly, professional, knowledgable staff in the physical therapy department encouraged and pushed me to work harder and grow stronger. They helped bolster my confidence at times when I was depressed and ready to give up and accept performing at a lower athletic level.

Thanks to these wonderful professionals I have been able to not only resume my active duties at work, but am also again playing volleyball and softball. Thanks Al, and all of your fantastic department!

My experience with the PT Department has been the same! They are unsung heros at LRH!!!!

I wish people would choose their words better. With everyone being called a hero for something, it detracts from those that really have done something heroic.

That was a cheap shot prowler.

I think the cooks are the unsung heros at LRH.
