Sewer woes lead to large marijuana bust
Published 06:07 p.m., January 2, 2009
A Herman man was being held in the Otter Tail County Jail on Friday after $10,000 worth of marijuana was found in a large drug growing operation in the man’s home.
It’s a drug bust that authorities stumbled upon accidently.
Grant County deputies went to the home of Ryan A. Ozmun, 21, 304 3rd. St. E., Herman, to cite the man for violating a public health ordinance after failure to connect his sewer line to Herman’s sewer main.
The residence had been posted on Dec. 19 as uninhabitable until the sewer was hooked up. However, Ozmun was still residing in the home, which prompted a visit from Grant County deputies on Wednesday.
While at the residence the deputies smelled a strong odor of marijuana in the house. They obtained and executed a search warrant, at which time they discovered a large indoor marijuana growing operation.
Approximately $10,000 worth of marijuana was confiscated from the home, according to Grant County Sheriff Dwight Walvatne. Growing equipment and other items used in a marijuana grow operation were also seized.
Ozmun was charged with two felony controlled substance charges. He was also charged with hinderance of enforcement relative to a public health nuisance, a misdemeanor.
Ozmun made his first appearance in Grant County District Court on Friday. Bond was set at $25,000.
Two other suspects are being investigated in the case and are being sought by Grant County authorities.

Someone over Riverside Way is now thinking its not such a good idea to complain about water pressure. 'They' might come to the DOOR after driving on the Dead-end street (for no reason), as him some questions, then get a wiff of what's cookin.

That's what happens when you allow the sewer to go to "Pot"!

You'd think that after "decades of popularity" he'd know better that to attract attention to himself...oops, nevermind!

to avoid over crowding in the jails give this felon the option of leaving the state and moving to california . pot smoking is just a traffic ticket-like offense here and you can not be jailed. he will be very popular here and will become quite rich..

Yeah, weed is illegal, but alcohol is just fine, a woman can murder her unborn baby cuz she has the right to choose, but we don't have the right to choose to decline using a seat belt.

Lois must die there is no liberal out there holding a gun to your head forcing you to wear your seat belt. Sure you may get a ticket for it, but there is no one forcing you to do it. The reason laws like that are in place is to protect stupid people from themselves. If we didn't have laws like that, I'm guessing you probably wouldn't be around right now.

Guess the guy should have cooperated and got the sewer hooked up. Maybe he meant to do it, but forgot...

Wait! Maybe he was trying to "raise" the money to get it hooked up.

I think he stuffed too much "grass" in his pipe.

They need to reefer this matter to the city attorney.

Maybe they will let him go if he's more blunt about his situation.

Uffda! "Norse" still trying to besmirch the honor of those who are brave enough to stand up in the face of adversity and try to improve the lives of others.
the water pressure problems of the hilltop area do not affect the water pressure in my neighborhood.
for me it's more of a morality issue, it's wrong to charge people for service our city does not provide, it's anti-American to treat people in a caste type system in our society. inequality creates a vacuum.
it is unfortunate that fools like you lack the vision and honor for our community to reach it's full potential, or at least achieve minimal acceptable equality. history has shown the results of these kind of injustices.
I was merely trying to correct these problems of which are still occurring, before the ramifications are compounded.
