RTC auction set for Tuesday
Published 04:19 p.m., July 2, 2009
An auction at the Regional Treatment Center (RTC) Tuesday will give bidders a chance to purchase campus property including office furniture, kitchen equipment and even musical instruments.
Surplus city equipment will also be for sale at Tuesday’s auction, which will begin at 8:30 a.m. Auctioneers with Aasness Auctioneers will hold at least two simultaneous auctions, with some items outside and others inside the gymnasium and dining hall.
Fergus Falls Assistant Building Inspector Guy Taylor has led the effort to find and organize the thousands of items up for bid. The goal is to clear the RTC buildings prior to their pending sale to Campus Development Group (CDG), Taylor said. It is the responsibility of the city to get rid of the excess property, as it is not part of the CDG transaction.
The RTC auction items run the gamut, from commercial washers to baby grand pianos. A category called “vintage historic items” includes metal caskets, albums, records and a press binder. Auction attendees will also be able to bid on theater and stage equipment, including a complete set of stage curtains, a stage-size movie screen and risers. These must be removed by the buyer.
City surplus items including tools, vehicles, and lawn and garden equipment will also be for sale. Bidders can expect to see a recycling truck, a fire department pumper truck and a 1975 Bombadier “Bombi” track vehicle once used for grooming trails. A forfeited 1998 Harley Davidson motorcycle will also be available.
The sale of commercial equipment is scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday, followed by major tools and shop equipment. The sale of vehicles is scheduled for noon.
The auction sale bill is available by visiting the city’s Web site at www.ci.fergus-falls.mn.us and following the link to the Aasness Auctioneers site.
Staff with State Operated Services and the city had their pick of RTC property in late winter. Anything left over from the auction may be thrown away, salvaged or included in any demolition work that might be done, Taylor said.

I have been up at the RTC a couple times prepping for this sale and I can tell you, even after various entities have picked it over, there is something for everyone up there.
Definitely go check it out.

to bad they are going to have the auction on a weekday. I would love to go there but some people work all day and can't get it off. sounds like a auction just for most people that don't work or retired. I think they would of made alot more money if they had it on a weekend.
