Shuck wins PLGC Short Stop

Brian Shuck took first place in Pebble Lake Golf Club's 2009 Fourth of July Shortstop Tournament Saturday at the golf course in Fergus Falls.

Shuck took the $200 first prize after a dramatic sudden-death playoff against Jason Anderson when both golfers finished with a 71 in the championship flight.

Shuck bested Anderson with a birdie on the second playoff hole. Anderson took home the $150 second place prize.

Finishing in third was John Hagge with a 72. Jere Hansen and Rick Frieburg tied for fourth with 73s.

John Gillund took first-place honors with a 68 net in the first flight. He was followed by Karl Beck with a 69 net. John Hatling and Gary Boldenow tied for third with net scores of 71.

In the second flight it was Dan Madsen who earned the first-place honors with a net score of 66. Craig Harrington finished second with a 68 net; Jim Bakken took third with net score oof 69 while fourth-place honors went to Randy Highland with a 71 net.

There were four hole contests that had golfers competing for new sets of golf balls. Jason Anderson had the closest ball to the pin on hole #2 and John Hatling had the closest ball to the pin on hole #8. The longest drive on hole #5 belonged to Wade Jyrkas. Randy Highland had the longest drive on hole #6.
