Planning for this weekend’s events began in January with a committee of about seven people, said committee member Chris Buckingham. In addition, many organizations and residents have stepped in to volunteer their time for the event. Buckingham noted that the event has a lot of community support.

Feedback on the 125th anniversary celebration was that attendees had a great time and it was a positive community gathering, Buckingham said. With that, a few residents decided to continue the summer event.

The schedule includes fireworks and a teen and family dance on Friday, Buckingham said. Saturday’s events include a 5k race and 2-mile fun walk, a kiddie parade and a parade, a softball tournament, games and a classic car show. A variety show and street dance are slated for Saturday evening.
