Published 09:54 a.m., June 18, 2009

A Fergus Falls man has been charged with criminal vehicular injury following an accident that injured a motorcyclist.

John Michael Ackerman, 26, was arrested Sunday after the pickup he was driving hit a juvenile motorcyclist northeast of Weetown, leaving the victim with fractures to his leg and wrist. According to a complaint, a deputy with the Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office conducted field sobriety tests at the scene, and a preliminary breath test indicated Ackerman was above the legal blood alcohol limit. Ackerman’s passenger told authorities the two had been drinking at a party about an hour and a half prior to the accident.

A hearing is scheduled for June 22.
