Bischof top FF finisher at Grandma’s

Minnesota native Christopher Raabe and former champion Mary Akor won the men's and women's races respectively in Duluth's 33rd Grandma's Marathon on Saturday.

Christopher Raabe became the first American to win the men's race in 14 years and the first Minnesotan since 1982. He ran his fastest career time to finish in 2 hours, 15 minutes, 13 seconds. Charles Kanyao of Kenya finished in second, 3 minutes and 23 seconds behind Raabe.

Matthew Biscof was the top Fergus Falls finisher. He completed the marathon with a time of 3:37:30 and was 510 overall. Gregory Schmidt wasn't far behind, finishing with a time of 3:46:53. The top Fergus Falls woman to finish the race was Elizabeth Pederson, who came in as our third-place Fergus Falls runner with a time of 4:08:55. Other Fergus Falls runners and their times include: Wade Breer; 5:18:36; Nick Mariotti, 5:22:12; and Arvid Strande, 5:53:25.

Paul Tabbut of Pelican Rapids was the only area runner in the half marathon. He placed 5,291 with a time of 2:57:12.

Fergus Falls was represented by five runners in the 5K run, four of whom appear to have been relatives.

Josephine ( age 13), Johanna (age 12), Jayden (age 9) and Tracy Schmidt (age 44) all ran the 5K with Josephines’ time of 25:09 good for 205 place. Johanna's time of 25:35 was good for fourth place in her age division.

Megan Lunde of Fergus Falls also ran the 5K, finishing with a time of 35:23.
