Legion splits with Perham

Published 12:00 p.m., June 30, 2009

The Fergus Falls American Legion baseball team earned a split at home against Perham Monday, defeating Perham 7-6 in the first game and losing 10-7 in the second game of the double header.

In the first game, Fergus Falls jumped out to an early 4-0 lead in the first inning with a home run from Derek Hansen

In the bottom of the 7th Dan Revering reached on an error, Derek Hansen followed with a game tying RBI single (pinch runner Jeff Hamann ran for Revering and was on 2nd because of a wild pitch).  Hansen stole second and with one out, Nolan Erickson came through with a solid single to center field to win the game.

The second game was all about just one bad inning, Coach Chris Winter said.

“We just couldn't find that 3rd out in the 3rd inning and before we could get there, they had scored 7 runs.

Fergus Falls put together a rally in the bottom of the 7th again, but couldn't get that final hit.  Down 10-3 entering the bottom of the 7th, FF got three walks and four hits, to get the score to 10-7 and the bases loaded.
