A 17-year-old kidnapping victim was found safe early Sunday morning, soon after an Amber Alert was issued to help find the girl.
The victim, Amy Henning, was located after she called police from a gas station in Fergus Falls.
Police say Henning drove the pickup she was abducted in to a gas station in Fergus Falls and called police just after 1 a.m.
The suspect, David Sabby, was located a short time later when a home owner who lives near Swan Lake in Otter Tail County called police when the suspect showed up at his door.
Circumstances surrounding the abduction are currently under investigation by the Fergus Falls Police, Otter Tail County Sheriff's Department and the BCA.
Sabby was being held this morning in the Otter Tail County Jail on consideration of charges for second degree assault causing substantial injury, felony kidnapping causing bodily harm, and felony possession of a firearm.
David Sabby ran for Elbow Lake City Council in November. He came in fourth in the five-person race for two council seats. He received 172 votes and came 124 votes shy from being elected, according to Daily Journal election results.
Henning was kidnapped at gunpoint Saturday night by Sabby, her stepfather, from a parking lot at the WestRidge Mall, according to the Fergus Falls Police Department.
Authorities were searching for 17-year-old Amy Henning and her stepfather, 46-year-old David R. Sabby Saturday evening and into Sunday.
According to Fergus Falls Police Chief Tim Brennan: Henning’s stepbrother called police at 7 p.m. to report the abduction after allegedly being gagged and left in the parking lot. He got free, called police and reported that Henning, his stepsister, had been kidnapped by Sabby.
Henning has a court-issued no-contact order against Sabby, Brennan said.
Witnesses at the Westridge Mall reported a red pickup truck with a single cab in the area just prior to the abduction. The truck was possibly a GMC or Chevrolet. Leads are being pursued to try to determine if the suspect had access to any vehicles that would match this description.
