Braham hires Winter

Published 12:00 p.m., May 7, 2009

Fergus Falls Secondary assistant principal Greg Winter has accepted a superintendent position with the Braham School District.

Winter has worked in the Fergus Falls School District as principal and assistant principal for the past eight years.

Winter was officially welcomed to the Braham School District at its school board meeting, held in April.

Braham Area Public Schools are located 60 miles north of Minneapolis in Isanti County. The Braham Schools are made up of two buildings; Braham Area Elementary School and Braham Area High School.

Current student enrollment is approximately 950 students, according to the school Web site.

The school has about 70 faculty members and 50 support staff. Winter served as the principal of the high school until the middle school and high school merged to create the secondary school. At that point, due to seniority reasons, he assumed the role as assistant principal.

Winter first came on to the Fergus Falls scene in 2001, when he left his principal position with Sebeka Public School, hosting K-12th graders.

Before holding that position, Winter worked as a teacher for 12 years, teaching economics and history at New Prague High School, where he also coached.

Winter had actively been pursuing to move up the school district ladder, and had been applying for superintendent positions throughout the state. Last year, Winter interviewed for the superintendent position in Dilworth, and had made the top five for consideration.

Greg will be making the move to Braham with his wife, Colleen, and his daughters, Jamie and Jenna.
