What is this?
Trail to bring visitors
Published 12:00 p.m., May 22, 2009
If there’s one thing that always seems to pique someone’s interest, it’s a beautiful bird.
We look forward to the first robin in spring and marvel at the bright red cardinal or bluejay that lands in our yards. We attract birds with feeders, hoping they add a little spice to the life in our backyards.
Now the Pine to Prairie bird trail has been expanded to reach into Manitoba, Canada. It reaches from its trailhead in Fergus Falls up to our neighbors to the North. On Tuesday Fergus Falls residents joined with Minnesota and Canadian leaders at the border north of Roseau to commemorate the creation of the longest international birding trail.
And it all starts here in Fergus Falls.
With people’s attractions to birds, it is no doubt that the extended bird trail will give people another reason to call Fergus Falls their tourism destination.
It is estimated that 275 different species of birds pass through areas along the trail, in addition to moose, wolf and other wildlife creatures.
Let’s hope hundreds and hundreds of peole pass through Fergus Falls with their tourism dollars as they embark on the trail.
