Fire damages Henning restaurant
Published 12:00 p.m., November 3, 2009
Firefighters responded to a Henning restaurant early Tuesday after authorities received a report of smoke in the building.
The report came around 6 a.m. from a resident living in an apartment above the Kountry Korner Kafe, located off of State Highway 108 and 2nd Street. According to Henning Fire Chief John Thalmann, residents from the upstairs apartment area were briefly evacuated as firefighters ventilated smoke coming from underneath the restaurant stove’s range hood. No one was injured and the smoke damage was minimal, with the restaurant able to open as scheduled Tuesday morning.
