What is this?
$10,000 dream room a ticket away.
Published 02:37 p.m., November 19, 2009
Given $10,000, what would you change in your home or business?
One person or business will win that amount in a new fundraiser, the $10,000 Dream Room Giveaway, for the Fergus Falls Chamber of Commerce.
Other prizes are also being offered. Second prize is a $1,000 shopping spree at Jaeger Furniture. Third through fifth prizes are $500, $250 and $100 in Fergus Bucks.
Raffle tickets are $10 each and a maximum of 2,500 tickets will be sold. About half of that amount has been sold so far, according to Chamber Director Lisa Workman.
Tickets are available at the Chamber of Commerce office, Cullen’s Home Center, Floor to Ceiling Store, Jaeger Furniture, The Market, Service Food, State Bank & Trust, American Federal Bank, Lakeway Market, Pamida, Lake Region Electric Coop, Pizza Ranch and from Chamber Board members.
Tickets will be available until Dec. 10 or until they are all sold, Workman said.
The drawing is scheduled for 7:15 p.m. Dec. 10 at Business After Hours at The Market, located on Union Avenue. Workman noted that the event is open to everyone.
The $10,000 prize can be used in Cullen’s Home Center and the Floor to Ceiling Store. Possible uses could be for new insulation, or a new TV or installing new windows, Workman said. Businesses can also win the prize and could use it to spruce up the inside of the business, she pointed out.
“Between the two stores, a person can build a house,” Workman said.
The prizes will come from the ticket sales. The remainder of the money raised from ticket sales will go toward special projects the Chamber of Commerce is working on, Workman said. They include youth programs, natural resources and trail restoration and to stimulate the economy, she said.
It’s a great way to renovate a home and invest in the community, Workman said.

What a Great Idea. I'd better go find a ticket to buy!

So...can everyone in town that is having a raffle expect free advertising from the Journal, or is this limited to certain entities?
