Mattfield sentenced for tardiness to jail

A Battle Lake woman who did not return from a jail furlough has been sentenced to one year in prison.
Nicole June Mattfield, 32, was in the Otter Tail County Detention Facility on check forgery charges in September 2008 when she requested a furlough to attend a funeral, according to a criminal complaint. Mattfield did not return to jail by the appointed time two days after she was released.
Mattfield pleaded guilty to one count of escaping from custody and was sentenced Nov. 10. She will receive credit for 138 days already served; she has already paid a fine and restitution costs, according to court records.
