Agreements to be met on FF teaching negotiations

Published 04:45 p.m., November 20, 2009

Monday’s board meeting is scheduled to meet in a closed session for a discussion relating to contract negotiations.

The meeting is scheduled to re-open following the closed session, at which point the board is expected to vote on whether to approve the certified master agreement for 2009-10.

The Fergus Falls Education Association has voted to ratify a proposed contract. The vote by the board on Monday would ratify it on the school board’s end, making the agreement final.

Neither side of the negotiation table is, at this point, willing to disclose the specifics of the agreement.

A joint statement will be released at the Nov. 23 meeting.

Negotiations began last spring and have been ongoing since, according to Roy Anderson, representative for the Fergus Falls Education Association.

“It wasn’t a 100 percent smooth road, but I guess that’s how negotiations usually go,” Anderson said.

Negotiations did require the use of a mediator from the State Bureau of Mediation Services.

Eisenhower public hearing set for Monday

The Fergus Falls School Board will host a public hearing regarding the closure of the Eisenhower building at 4 p.m. Monday, Nov. 23 at the city hall council chambers.

On the agenda for the regularly scheduled 5 p.m. board meeting following the public hearing is a motion to open bids for the Eisenhower building and grounds.

No specifics - other than it does not favor young teachers with families - frozen health insurance benefits? I wouldn't agree to that.
