Dog bites, wind energy on county board docket

Two dog bite hearings, a second informational session on wind energy and Planning Commission recommendations are on the Otter Tail County Board’s docket for Tuesday.
The Otter Tail County Human Services Board is set to begin at 9:15 a.m. and the Otter Tail County Board will follow at 11 a.m. in the Government Services Center.
For an hour beginning at 1 p.m., the board is scheduled to hear a wind energy presentation from a representative from Lake Region Electric Cooperative. The board has also heard a presentation from a consultant with the Otter Tail Power Company. The board is currently on a quest to learn more about wind energy as it ponders regulations on wind turbines.
At 9:30 a.m., the board is scheduled to hold a re-hearing on a dog bite, followed by a second dog bite hearing at 10 a.m.
The board is expected to decide on recommendations from the Planning Commission at 11 a.m.
During Land and Resource business at 2 p.m., the board is scheduled to discuss an amendment to the county’s shoreland management ordinance that would allow residents to have campers on their land.
Commissioner John Lindquist is scheduled to discuss surface water at 11:30 a.m.
The board is scheduled to hear about a child support program study from the Human Services director at 10:35 a.m.
The county highway engineer is scheduled to request a reduction in retainage for two projects — the Dane Prairie Township bridge project and county state aid highway 24 pumping project — when he meets with the board at 2:15 p.m.
At 2:30 p.m., the auditor is expected to request the board authorize a grant for snowmobile trail grooming equipment.
The Public Health director is scheduled to discuss miscellaneous items at 9:25 a.m.
The Probation director is scheduled to discuss miscellaneous items at 10:20 a.m.
The Solid Waste Committee is scheduled to meet at 11:40 a.m. and the Personnel Committee is scheduled to meet at 2:40 p.m.
