Fake bills reported

Published 10:09 a.m., November 25, 2009

Fergus Falls police are investigating the passing of three counterfeit bills at the American Legion over the weekend.

The bills, all $20 in value, were used by a man whose identity may be revealed by video surveillance, according to Capt. Steve Adams. The three bills have the following serial numbers: II06926568A; EH11588182B; II06673409A.

Adams said the feel of a bill is the biggest giveaway it may be fake; another indicator is color.

Fergus Falls police receive about half a dozen reports each year of counterfeit money circulating locally, Adams said.
