Suspect charged in iPod thefts

A Fergus Falls woman is in jail on allegations she stole 11 iPods from Wal-Mart in August.
Heather Renee Mortenson, 22, is accused of prying open an electronics case in the early morning of Aug. 2 and stealing 11 iPods worth $2,435, according to a criminal complaint. Fergus Falls police identified Mortenson as a suspect using video surveillance, as well as statements from store employees who recognized a distinctive tattoo on Mortenson’s neck. Information from the West Fargo Police Department indicates two of the iPods may have been pawned in Jamestown, according to the complaint.
Mortenson is charged with one count of theft. A hearing is scheduled for Dec. 7.
