Cheney, Limbaugh in 2012?

Published 12:00 p.m., November 30, 2009

Many conservatives believe that Dick Cheney and Rush Limbaugh have all the answers to solve our nation’s problems. Could that team head the GOP banner in 2012?

"If I had to choose in terms of being a Republican, I'd go with Rush Limbaugh," said Cheney on CBS's "Face the Nation."

This led to immediate speculation that Cheney and Limbaugh intend to run as a ticket in the 2012 election. Limbaugh, on his weekday radio show, often calls Barack Obama “a man-child president who is immature, inexperienced, and over his head.”

A Cheney-Limbaugh ticket would be a conservative's dream, said conservative analyst Mary Matalin, but she said, “I don’t believe Cheney will run for president, nor will Limbaugh.”

As for Limbaugh’s daily criticism of Obama, White House senior adviser David Axelrod said, "It's a surreal day when you're getting lectures from Rush Limbaugh. He (Limbaugh) is an entertainer."

The White House has suggested that Limbaugh and some other far-right political personalities have grabbed control of the Republican Party. Limbaugh has openly vowed to do what he can to ensure that Obama's presidency is a failure.

“I don't know how good a Cheney-Limbaugh ticket would truly be or how happy I’d be with them over the long term. However, I'd take them in a heartbeat, from a national security perspective, over that fraud in the White House. Man, would I like to have a recall election (a la Gov. Grey Davis in California) right about now,” said one conservative talk show radio caller.

Limbaugh and Sean Hannity remain way ahead of the field in their two-horse race for the most conservative talk-radio listeners, according to the trade magazine “Talkers.” Limbaugh has a minimum of 14.75 million listeners who tune in at least once a week. Hannity is second with a minimum of 13.75 million.

Our Hintgen family prefers to listen to Minnesota Public Radio, for which we are contributing members.

Limbaugh said he loves being a conservative, adding, “We believe in individual liberty, limited government, capitalism, the rule of law, faith, a color-blind society and national security.”

He said true conservatives also support school choice, enterprise zones, tax cuts, welfare reform, faith-based initiatives, political speech, homeowner rights and the War on Terrorism.

“And at our core, said Limbaugh, “we embrace and celebrate the most magnificent governing document ever ratified by any nation — the U.S. Constitution. Along with the Declaration of Independence, which recognizes our God-given natural right to be free, it’s the foundation on which our government is built and has enabled us to flourish as a people.”

Limbaugh asserts that African-Americans, in contrast with other minority groups, are "left behind" socially because they’ve been systematically trained from a young age to hate America through a widespread movement headed by figures such as Jeremiah Wright, William Ayers, and Obama.

Many people believe that Limbaugh not only has no compassion for those in need, but that he’s also mean-spirited.

During the Clinton administration, while filming his television program, Limbaugh referred to media coverage of Socks, the Clintons' cat. He then said, "Did you know there's a White House dog?" and held up to the camera a picture of then-teenaged Chelsea Clinton.

Responding to the ensuing criticism, Limbaugh claimed he was handed the photo by mistake. Later, he mocked the shortness of U.S. Secretary of Labor Robert B. Reich who’s about 5 feet tall.

Democrats say that Limbaugh uses his platform to become national precinct chairman for the Republican party. Right or wrong, millions of Americans love Limbaugh, and he earns millions of dollars each year through conservative talk radio.

Would Cheney and Limbaugh, if elected, tap Sarah Palin for a Cabinet post?

i doubt very seriously Mr. Rush would consider such a proposition nor would Mr. Cheney. Personally i do not see either a Repulsican or a Democrapulous worth voting for. Someone out there may generate some excitement with the Twitter/Facebook/TMZ mentality but politics no longer seems interesting or moral.

Moral? Ya, it seems some form of term limits for Senators and Congressmen are in order. The more they are in Washington, they are likely to be corrupted at some level.

Anyone would be better than the incompetent, president in training that we have now. The country is going down the tubes and he is off on another trip kissing the feet of foreign leaders. You can't blame Bush any longer, all of what is happening now is with the Liberals in charge. Lord help us, socialism is being forced down our throats. No country survives well under a dictatorship but Obama is sounding more like a few people that tried to take over the world during WW II.

Where else but from Rush will you get the truth on the "Global Warming" scandal.

One day we're not going to need a stupid ape in charge of this cult. Until then, we're doomed every time. Pick a side and throw your feces across the aisle. That's all you're doing.

And people complain about Obama not having experience? Correct me if I'm wrong, but does Limbaugh have any political experience on any level or hold a college degree? Nope, I'm not wrong so your corrections aren't necessary.

Mr.Hintgen, time to branch out and leave Left Wing Public Radio. There is an entire news world out there to be heard and Public Radio does not want you to hear it. Also, if you have ever listened to Rush, he will never for any reason run for any office. Good hardworking people of the USA and Canada love conservatism. Why do you think CNN, MSN, Public Radio are failing. People do not want spending, lack of defense, lack of jobs, blaming everyone from the past, tarp, the loss of great health care, Tearing up BUSH and proping up OBAMA! Thank God for people who stand up for us. Because Obama and group are not. Too bad it came to Obama to wake up the USA! Best thing ever for a reform of Government. My, have you ever listened to ED SHULTZ....wow, run for your life. I listen to many programs driving, and Public Radio, CNN, MSN, Katie, all are one sided and prop up liberals. Get out and listen, it will help you...promise. Think of me at the next election, working men, women, and teens, want conservitism.

Over-arching statements are for under-educated minds.
"Hardworking people want/love conservatism"... You've spoken to these people personally, taken a pole on how they feel? Gauging from the last two elections, Lillylivered, I'm led to believe your assumptions are incorrect. I'd like to think of myself as a hardworking person but now I'm afraid I may be a closet conservative since that's what hardworkers are like.
I find it funny how people of a conservative persuasion have to speak in absolutes since they cannot understand nuance and minute details.

I find it funny how the majority of our national debt was racked up under the Bush administration and it wasn't until the very end of that administration that they finally decided to take a look at the Afghanistan war to see how it was doing. also the comments from those claiming we weren't attacked by terrorists under the Bush administration. LOL, so then why did he send us off to wars?
you can't have it both ways. when you bankrupt the world but line your own pockets, and leave the world in complete financial failure and widespread war, you're going to have some people upset. thats why Bush is now just a speaker at pyramid scheme conventions.
keep showing how crazy you republicans are please. every time you recite Rushes dogma you reveal exactly why Obama won. lol "he's not an American", "he's bankrupting our bankrupt country" and my favorite, "thems poor folks don't deserves no healthcare" even though it costs us all more in the long run to not insure the poor.

Rush/Chenney/ nor even mormon Beck will ever run for anything, well at least not again in Chenneys case.
because they7 don't want to ever have to actually stand behind what they've said, they're just asking questions, not making threats or accusations.
or in Chenneys case, shooting people in the face on quail hunts. lol and I use the term "hunts" loosely, it shouldn't be called a hunt when the birds have their feathers cut to render them flightless and they're in a fenced in area. I hope Rush has the unavoidable heart attack that his Oxycontin abuse is going to cause sooner rather than later. Beck must be running out of things to pretend weep over and be so very very frightened about by now too? like for instance blood transfusions which Mormons like Glen Beck believe condemn you to hell.

Limbaugh//Hannity/Beck are just shock jocks. They entertain- that's what they are paid to do. Cheney, in addition to being one of the most reviled people in America, has lost all political respectability outside of the militant conservative wing of the Republican party. His electability is zero.

Dick Cheney and Rush Limbaugh are the downfall of America.
We could have won the war in Afghanistan years ago had it not been for Cheney's distraction war in Iraq.
