History: Homeless man has shoes stolen during ride on train
Published Wednesday, October 14, 2009
When a hobo in stocking feet approached Chief of Police Slatten on the street this morning, the officer believed he was face to face with abject poverty. The tramp, however, explained that he had slept in a boxcar during the night, and had removed his shoes, which he said were almost new.
During the night the meanest man in the world crept into the car and got away with the shoes. The police steered the shoeless man in the general direction of the Salvation Army.
