Football: Chokio-Alberta/Herman-Norcross 14, Ashby 8
Published 12:00 a.m., October 15, 2009
ASHBY— North met South in Wednesday night’s Pheasant Conference clash between Ashby and Chokio-Alberta/Herman-Norcross in the Arrows’ final home game of the season.
Ashby quarterback Sam Graham completed just one of his four passes on the night, and it was good enough for a 34 yard touchdown to Jordan Lillemon, but not enough to upset the Spartans.
Ashby (0-7) racked up 143 yards rushing in the rain, 83 of which came from John Quernemoen. Mason Johnson added 36 yards on 11 attempts.
Ashby was led defensively by Patrick Rohloff and his 14 solo tackles, as well as Brett Bowman’s two fumble recoveries.
All of the game’s scoring took place in the first half as Ashby held a 8-6 advantage after the opening quarter.
Ashby will be in Graceville next Tuesday to take on the No. 2-ranked (9-Man) Clinton-Graceville-Beardsley in its final game of the year.
