Rockets fall in Underwood tournament championship
Published 06:49 a.m., October 16, 2009
UNDERWOOD— The Rockets came up just short of winning a championship at their own eight team tournament on Thursday.
After breezing by Wheaton, Barnesville and Frazee, the Rockets were clipped by Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg 3-0 (15-25, 14-25, 13-15) in the tournament finale.
“Second place is not what we wanted, but we’ll take it,” Rockets’ coach Diane Ross said. “The girls fought hard all day.”
Aann Bjorklund and Ellen Ferry dominated the nets for the Rockets, finishing with 30 and 29 kills respectfully.
Bjorklund also had a team best 10 ace blocks
