No serious injuries in baler fire

Published 12:00 p.m., September 1, 2009

A field in rural Hewitt sustained minimal damage after a baler caught fire Monday evening.

Charles Anderson, 70, told the Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office he’d been working with a baler on his property off of State Highway 210 when he’d backed up to check on a bale. As he did so, the baler burst into flames.

Anderson was able to bring the equipment back to his house, where he extinguished the fire. Authorities received a report of the incident around 6 p.m. and the Hewitt Fire Department responded. The field sustained only minor damage, according to the sheriff’s office, which did not report any injuries.
