O’Reilly Auto Parts opens in Fergus Falls

Published 11:21 a.m., February 8, 2010

On Saturday O’Reilly Auto Parts opened along West Lincoln Avenue, across from Sunmart in Fergus Falls. A grand opening will be held in late March or early April.

“We look forward to serving people in this area,” said store manager Zach Stevens on Friday. “Our business will serve customers with commercial, wholesale and retail sales.”

Six employees are working at the new building that houses O’Reilly Auto Parts in Fergus Falls. Hours are 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sundays.

On Friday, Stevens and staff members made final preparations prior to the store’s official opening the following day. Customers can look for products on the various shelves and also take a look at O’Reilly brochures. As noted in the brochures, staff people refer to themselves as the “professional parts people.”

Said Stevens, “We take a lot of pride when we handle products with the O’Reilly label attached. One example is O’Reilly motor oil. Another is pre-mix antifreeze.”

Chassis and suspensions tips were the feature of the week in the brochure available for customers at the store on Saturday. Various questions are directed to customers.

Is your vehicle not handling like it used to? Pulling to the left or right? Loss of control? Uneven tire wear? Noise and vibration while cornering?

To solve one or more problems, O’Reilly states, “Return to a ‘like new’ feel to your steering and suspension.”

To reach that goal, the auto parts store has sway bar links, ball joints and tie rod ends.

O'Reilly Automotive, Inc., officially started in the auto parts business in Springfield, Mo., in November 1957. By 1961 the company had nine stores, all located in southwest Missouri.

On July 11, 2008, O’Reilly purchased CSK Auto corporation, based out of Phoenix, Ariz., adding 1,342 stores under the brand names of Checker Auto Parts, Schuck’s Auto Supply, Kragen Auto Parts and Murray’s Discount Auto Supply.

The joining of these two companies took O’Reilly into several new states, including Alaska and Hawaii. This brought the total number of states with O’Reilly/CSK locations to 38, with a total of 3,423 stores, thus making it the third largest auto parts distributor in the United States.
