Ex deputy sentenced for sex crimes
Published 07:36 a.m., March 11, 2010
GRAND RAPIDS, Minn. (AP) — A former Itasca County sheriff’s deputy has been sentenced to roughly 12 years in prison and six years of supervised release for sexually abusing a teenager over several years.
Forty-four-year-old Gregory Alan Snyder of Bovey pleaded guilty in January to six felony counts of sexual misconduct. The criminal complaint says he abused a boy multiple times from 2004 through March 2009, starting when the boy was 13.
To avoid a possible conflict of interest, the case was prosecuted in Itasca County by the Cass County attorney’s office. Koochiching County District Court Judge Charles LeDuc oversaw the case.
The Cass County attorney’s office says Snyder was an Itasca County sheriff’s deputy for two decades, most recently working as a sex crimes investigator. He resigned last year.
There was no answer at a phone listing for Snyder’s attorney.
