Hazel Lovelace

Hazel Lovelace, 96, of Fergus Falls, died at the Pioneer Senior Cottages on Thursday, Nov. 30, 2006.

She was born Aug. 28, 1910, in Falls City, Neb., the daughter of William and Ida (Miller) Bertram. She attended school in Doran and married Verlon C. Lovelace on Oct. 28, 1931, in Breckenridge. She was a loving wife and mother who worked in retail and as an Avon representative.

Hazel was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, Grace United Methodist Church, and served as a Girl Scout leader, Sunday school teacher and in many other volunteer jobs.

She loved to dance, played piano and accordion, golfed and loved to walk. She was a great bread baker, and also enjoyed crocheting, sewing and tailoring.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Willis; sisters: Clara Fisher, Elsie Williams and Gertrude Ellingson; brothers: Willis, William and Walter; and a great-grandson, Jonathan Zuponcic.

She is survived by her husband, Verlon, of Fergus Falls; children: Mary Jane (Francis Cassady) Tesch-Cassady, of Plymouth, Lee (Carolyn) Lovelace, of Grand Rapids, Carole Lovelace (friend W. Parham Bridges, Jr.), of New Orleans, La., and Shirley Lovelace, of Fergus Falls; grandchildren: Gwen (Ted) Crawford, Cynthia (Timothy) Zuponcic, Sherry Ortega, Robin (Jon) Strohschien, Teri (William) Johnson-Tesch, Paula (James) Olson, Mary (Robert) Tesch-Stevson, Heather (Frank) Griffith-Tesch, Deborah Lovelace, Andrew Lovelace, Eve Lovelace, and Sonia Claire Lovelace; 20 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Mildred DeFries, of Breckenridge; a brother, Fred Bertram, of Beaufort, N.C.; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation: Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m. at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service at the church
Service: 1 p.m. Monday at Grace United Methodist Church, Fergus Falls
