Masie Cecilia Uhde, 92, Parkers Prairie, MN

1914 - 2006

Masie Cecilia Uhde, 92, of Parkers Prairie, died Friday, Dec. 1, 2006, at St. William’s Living Center in Parkers Prairie.

She was born Sept. 5, 1914, in Bertha, to Herman and Sophia (Wieland) Zimmerman. She grew up in Bertha and graduated from Bertha High School. She worked as a waitress until she married Alfred Uhde on Aug. 10, 1937. Following their marriage they made their home in Parkers Prairie where they owned many businesses including a hotel, a produce and feed store and a café. The last business was Uhde’s Meat Market.

Following the death of her husband, she volunteered at the coffee shop at Knute Nelson Memorial Home in Alexandria. In her 80s she worked for a brief time as cashier at Chet’s Lakeside. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. She always enjoyed having a full house of family and friends to visit with and also welcomed pets. Belonging to card clubs, going for car rides and traveling to see relatives also were favorite activities.

She is survived by three sons: Tom (Tena) Uhde of Miltona, David (Vergene) Uhde of Parkers Prairie, and William (Lynda) Uhde of Okinawa, Japan; four grandchildren: Tami (Skip) Hansen of Champlin, Dana (Tom) Guse of Parkers Prairie, Jon (Jen) Uhde of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Jason (Sonya) Uhde of Bellingham, Wash.; and six great-grandchildren: Thomas Hansen, Sean Hansen, Danielle Guse, Brook Uhde, Sadie Uhde and Calvin Uhde.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alfred; four brothers; and two sisters.

Visitation: Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. with a prayer service 7 p.m. at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service at the church
Service: 1 p.m. Wednesday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Parkers Prairie
