Marcella Knudtsen Danielson, 92, Formerly of Rothsay

1914 - 2006

Marcella Knudtsen Danielson, 92, of Roseville and formerly of Rothsay, died Dec. 4, 2006, at the Sunrise Assisted Living in Roseville.

She was born on Oct. 23, 1914, in Sandstone. In 1919 she moved to Henning with her parents, Anna Bjorklund Knudtsen and Albert M. Knudtsen. She attended elementary and high school in Henning, graduating in 1932. She attended business college in Minneapolis and then worked as a secretary at the Gamble Stores main office.

On Jan. 18, 1936, she married Jewell Danielson of Rothsay. They farmed near Rothsay for one year and then moved to Thief River Falls where Jewell was in business with his brothers, Elver and Ted. In 1942 they returned to the farm and stayed until 1964 when they moved to Pelican Rapids where they owned and operated two laundries and a car wash. During this period they began going to Mesa, Ariz., and continued this for 18 winters.

In 1991 they moved to St. Paul and lived in a condo, Scandia Shores, and finally at Sunrise Assisted Living.

Marcella was preceded in death by her husband, Jewell; and her parents, Albert and Anna Knudtsen of Henning.

She is survived by her children: Dorothy (Ted) Kosin of St. Paul, Dale (Judy) of Willmar, and Jerry (Louise) of Ft. Wayne, Ind.; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; a sister, Ardell Palmquist of Taylors Falls; and two brothers, Roger (Anita) Knudtsen of Red Wing, and Ronald (Jane) Knudtsen of Colorado Springs, Colo.

Memorial service: 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 12, at Rothsay Baptist Church
