Wilmer Anthony Buschke, 80, Parkers Prairie, MN

1925 - 2006

Wilmer Anthony Buschke, 80, of rural Parkers Prairie, died Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2006, at his home.

He was born on Dec. 16, 1925, on the family farm in Eastern Township, Otter Tail County, to August and Josephine (Blashack) Buschke. He was baptized and confirmed into the Catholic faith, attended country school in Woodside Township and helped his father on the family farm. He worked in Montana during harvest time when he was young.

Wilmer served in the U.S. Army from 1955 to 1956. Following his honorable discharge he returned to farm with his family, later taking over the farm. He was united in marriage to Glenice Hope Walker on Dec. 7, 1957, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Rectory in Bertha. Following their marriage he continued with dairy farming and raising cattle until his retirement in 1997.

Although retired, he continued working on the farm until the time of his death. He was a member of St. William’s Catholic Church. He enjoyed raising beef cattle, going to the sale barn, hunting, jigsaw puzzles, bird watching and visiting with people. He will always be remembered as his family’s everyday hero.

He is survived by his wife, Glenice Hope; two daughters, Barb (Mike) Fiedler of Vining, and Sherry (Jeff) Gunderson of Carlos; a son, Blaine (Christie) Buschke of Bethel, Minn.; five sisters: Doreen Walander of Zim, Minn., Loretta Revering of New Munich, JoAnn (Pete) Kamphake of Parkers Prairie, Adelle (Robert) Krause of Crystal and Adrienne (Jerry) Judson of Maple Grove; a brother-in-law, Harry Moritz of Conrad, Mont.; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Veronica Moritz; and brother-in-law, Raymond Revering.

Visitation: Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home with a 7 p.m., Rosary service, and visitation one hour prior to the service at the church
Service: 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Williams Catholic Church, Parkers Prairie
