Myrtle Larson, 95, of Fergus Falls, died Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2006, at Haven Manor in Fergus Falls.
She was born Sept. 5, 1911, in Debman Township in Grant County, the daughter of Austin and Ingeborg (Johnson) Vaa. She was baptized and confirmed at West Elbow Lake Lutheran Church and attended country school at District 51 in Delaware Township. Myrtle was one of the youngest of a large family, which included six sisters and five brothers. She spent four years working in the Seattle, Wash., area.
On June 21, 1952, she married Harold Larson of Barnesville. They lived in Barnesville, Wendell and Fergus Falls. Harold died May 30, 1974.
Myrtle was employed at McKinley School in Fergus Falls and later worked as a foster grandparent at the Fergus Falls Regional Treatment Center. She was a member of First Lutheran Church and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary of Fergus Falls.
She was the last survivor in her family of 12 children. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold; and siblings: Betsy Dahle, Gilbert Vaa, Ole Vaa, John Vaa, Clara Neubauer, Mable Halvorson, Ida Smith, Alma Cooke, Elaine Pikop, Kenneth Vaa and Joseph Vaa.
She is survived by her children, Delores (Peter) Sinclair of Stephen, and LeRoy (Jo-Anne) Larson of Rochester; six grandchildren: Cynthia, Allison, Jane, Heather, Christopher, and Scott; 10 great-grandchildren: Jaci (Nathan), Jason, Andrew, Nicholas, Jordan, Evan, Ryan, Hannah, Olivia, and Joy; and one sister-in-law, Edith Vaa of Fargo.
Visitation: There will be no visitation.
