Amy Henneman, 90, Evansville, MN

1916 - 2006

Amy Henneman

Amy Henneman, 90, of Evansville, died Sunday, Dec. 17, 2006, at her home.

She was born Feb. 6, 1916, in a sod hut in New Leipzig, N.D., the daughter of Louis and Emily (Peterson) Lindemyer. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. As a young girl she moved with her family to Lund Township, rural Evansville, where she saw trees for the first time. She attended country school in Lund Township.

On Sept. 5, 1933, she and Arthur E. Henneman were married in Our Savior’s Parsonage in Evansville. Amy had met Art one evening at a dance in Erdahl where Art asked who he saw as “the prettiest girl he had ever met,” Amy Lindemyer, for a dance.

They raised a large family and farmed on the Henneman family farm until 1972 when they moved into Evansville.

They were married for 72 years. She was a hard working farm wife who was well known for her baking, especially bread and carmel rolls.

Amy was famous for her donuts and her recipe was used at the Evansville restaurants. On Sundays her home was always full of company, the coffee pot was always on and the cookie jar was full.

She had lots of inside and outside plants and raised a big garden. She made jelly for many at Christmas.

She also enjoyed quilting and every grandchild received a homemade quilt.

She lots of times had a grandchild under tow. In spite of all her jobs, her greatest love was always her family.

She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church where she was active with Ladies Aid, different church functions and taught Sunday School for many years. She also belonged to the Evansville Garden Club and the Evansville Senior Citizens.

She is survived by her daughters, Sandra Henneman of Berkley, Calif., and Debra (LeRoy) Shea of Evansville; sons: Gerald (Marlo) Henneman of Ashby, Donald (Sharon) Henneman of Evansville, Carl (Margaret) Henneman of New Auburn, Wis., and Robert (Jeanine) Henneman of Evansville; 23 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; two brothers, Clinton Lindemyer of Jackson, Mich., and Robert (Violet) Lindemyer of Webster, Wis.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur, on Dec. 1, 2005; two infant daughters, Diane in 1937 and Janet in 1938; her parents; three sisters: Norma Eidem, Mae Olson and Frances Jenstad; five brothers: Louis, Charles, Ernest, Carl and Grant Lindemyer.
