Raymond Lankow, 88, Foxhome, MN

Raymond Lankow

Raymond Russel Lankow, 88, of rural Foxhome, died Sunday, March 30, 2008, at the V.A. Medical Center in Fargo.
He was born on June 11, 1919, on the family farmstead near Foxhome the son of Henry and Jessie Roberta (Marten) Lankow. He attended rural school in District 62.
In 1941, he was drafted into the United States Army and was stationed for 43 months in the South Pacific. He was stationed in Majuro, Eniwetok, Saipan, Santos and Okinawa.
He earned a battlefield promotion to Corporal while serving during World War II.
On Oct. 25, 1958, he married Margaret “Peggy” Danielson at Foxhome Methodist Church. The couple made their home on the family farm and were the parents of two children, Scott and Nancy. The couple farmed until their retirement in 1995.
Raymond also worked at Breckenridge Lumber and enjoyed carpenter work.
He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Fergus Falls, previously attending Foxhome Methodist Church where he was active on various committees.
He was a life member of V.F.W. Post 612 and held various offices on the Foxhome Township Board.
His hobbies included hunting, fishing and antique tractors.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Henry and Jessie; two brothers-in-law, Harold Hiedeman and Edward Kusch; and three nephews, Greg Lankow, Mark Martinson and Neil Hiedeman.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret “Peggy,” of rural Foxhome, a son, Scott Lankow of Breckenridge; a daughter, Nancy (Alan) Vetter of Wahpeton; three grandsons, Christopher and Matthew Vetter of Fargo, and Mark Vetter of Wahpeton; five sisters, Mae Hiedeman of Breckenridge, Beatrice Kusch of Marion, Iowa, Marilyn (Alwyn) Martinson of Vergas, Artis (Gordon) Martinson of Breckenridge and Phyllis (Herbert) Hiedeman of Wahpeton; three brothers, Cecil Lankow of Foxhome, Francis (Virginia) Lankow of Underwood and Henry Lankow of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins; and a host of friends.
Visitation: Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m., with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m., at the church, and one hour prior to the service at the church
Service: 2 p.m. Thursday, at Grace United Methodist Church, Fergus Falls
Clergy: Rev. Dr. Daren Flinck and Rev. Terry Tilton
Burial: Oak Grove Cemetery, Fergus Falls
