Helen Bernice Swenson, 61, of Abilene, Texas, died Thursday, March 27, 2008, at her home.
She was born Jan. 3, 1947, to Herman Muehler Sr. and Alma McGlaughlin Muehler. Helen lived on the family farm in Fairmont, N.D., until her graduation from high school in 1965.
On Sept. 24, 1966, she married Marlen Swenson and moved to the family farm in 1981. That same year Helen began her employment for Herberger's Department Store and worked there until her retirement in 2007.
After retiring, she moved to Texas to be closer to her family.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters; and a grandson.
She is survived by two daughters, Vicki and Frank Stamp of San Antonio, Texas, and Sherry and Mike Elder of Abilene; a son, David Swenson of Fergus Falls; two brothers, Darrell Muehler and Herman Muehler; sisters Doris Huelsman, Alice Ellsworth, Betty Bohn, Elaine Mitchell, Shirley Wegschied, Darlene Carlson, Sharron Solberg, Linda Steffens and Patty Zietlow; and five grandchildren.
A memorial service is planned at 10 a.m. Friday at Federated Church in Fergus Falls. Piersall-Benton Funeral Directors in Abilene, Texas, is in charge of arrangements.
