Clarissa Butler

Clarissa Butler, 92, of Elbow Lake, died Saturday, April 19, 2008, at ELEAH Medical Center in Elbow Lake.
Clarrisa Anita (Wold) Butler was born on the family farm in Sanford Township in Grant County, on April 9, 1916, to Carl O. and Azee (Torgerson) Wold. She was baptized and confirmed at Ness Lutheran Church and graduated from Elbow Lake High School in 1935.
When World War II started, Clarissa worked in the New Brighton Defense Plant. When the Japanese attacked Pear Harbor, Clarissa joined the Marine Corp., and was stationed in North Carolina, California, and on the island of Oahu, Hawaii, until the war ended.
Clarissa then went back to work as a beautician for Myndel Cain in Minneapolis and later for Henry's Beauty Salon in Massey's Department Store in Rochester.
In 1956, she married Clarence Butler of Austin. They were married in the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa.
Clarence died in December 2000.
Survivors include a brother, John Wold of Evansville; a stepson, James (Annette) Butler of Lake Preston, S.D.; and a stepdaughter, Patricia (Don) Jorstad of Red Lake Falls; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Clarissa was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Butler; parents, Carl and Azee Wold; brothers Kenneth, Clifton and Ruben; and sisters, Berdine and Esther Wold.
Visitation: Wednesday one hour prior to the service at the church
Memorial Service: 11 a.m. Wednesday, at United Lutheran Church, Elbow Lake
