Lydia Stebbins

Lydia Mathilda Stebbins, 87, of Perham, died peacefully on Saturday, April 26, 2008, at Mercy Health Care Center in Moose Lake.

Lydia was born Feb. 25, 1921, the daughter of Henry and Sophie (Laipple) Enslin in Luce. She attended Frazee Public Schools and after graduation began working as a bookkeeper at Bauck Chevrolet.

She married Paul Stebbins on June 22, 1947. They lived in Vergas, and later moved to Perham. She continued to work as a secretary at Nundahl Oil Company and for Drs. Ivan and Earl Bigler. She later became the elementary secretary at Perham Public School.

Lydia enjoyed time with her family and gardening. She was involved in her church, Sweet Adelines, and volunteered at St. James Manor.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Paul; and three brothers, Paul, Al and Herman Enslin.

Lydia is survived by her son, Don (Shirley) Stebbins of Moose Lake; a daughter, Linda (Bryan) Hefty, Eau Claire, Wis.; five grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation: Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m., with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the funeral home, and one hour prior to the service at the church

Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday, at Calvary Lutheran Church, Perham

Burial: Sybil Lake Cemetery, Vergas
