Laura Voll, 90

Laura Voll, age 90 of Henning, died unexpectedly Tuesday, April 29, 2008, at her home.

Laura Marie Eckhoff was born Dec. 18, 1917, in Inman Township in Otter Tail County, the daughter of John and Anna (Tiedemann) Eckhoff. She grew up in Inman township near Henning, walked a mile and a half to attend Nubbin Ridge country school.

After completing her schooling, she worked as a housekeeper for area families.

On March 25, 1939, she married Lawrence Flom. They lived and farmed in Inman township. In 1949, they moved to the other side of Henning where they again farmed.

Lawrence died on Oct. 16, 1961. Laura remained on the farm until 1970, when she married to Irvin Voll, AKA Ozzie Clark. They purchased the home in Henning where Laura remained for the rest of her life.

Irvin died on April 29, 1989, the same day that Laura would die 19 years later. Laura worked for a time as a cook at Lutheran Island Camp and also occasionally helped her sister, Irma with her upholstery business. Laura was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, SPWF - St. Paul’s Church, the Garden Club, and the Tuesday Quilters.

She loved gardening, cooking and quilting. In fact, she was preparing to host her quilting group the morning she died.

She is preceded in death by her husbands; brothers, Henry, Leonard and Arnold; a sister, Katie; and three great-grandchildren.

Laura is survived by her sons, Lawrence (JoAnne) Flom, Henning, and Duane (Karen) Flom, Olivia; a daughter, Leila Hagen, Henning; a step-daughter: Karen (Wayne) Black, Rochester; 16 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Irma Roggenkamp, Henning; sisters-in-law: Shirley Eckhoff, Henning and Marlys Eckhoff, Henning.

Visitation: Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m., with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the funeral home and and one hour prior to the service at the church

Service: 11 a.m. Friday, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Henning Clergy: Rev. Randy Maland

Burial: St. Paul’s cemetery
