Esther Dubbels

Esther Luella Dubbels, 87, of Horace, N.D., most recently of Fergus Falls, died Sunday, Feb. 3, 2008, at Broen Memorial Home in Fergus Falls.
She was born Jan. 12, 1921, in Henning, the daughter of Herman and Sophie (Wendte) Bolland. She was baptized Jan. 30, 1921, and confirmed June 10, 1934, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Henning. Esther grew up in the Henning area, attending country school. She went to work in the Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Chicago, Ill., areas, and would return to Henning during the summer months to help on the family farm, until she met Warren Dubbels.
On Oct. 16, 1948, she and Warren were married at St. John Lutheran Church in Ottertail. The couple resided in Henning Township where they farmed. They later moved to Carlisle Township near Fergus Falls where they continued farming.
Esther loved farming and helping with all the farm work. In 1984, she and Warren semi-retired and they moved to Horace, N.D. Most recently she was a resident at Broen Memorial Home.
Esther was an active member at Trinity Lutheran Church and with their L.W.M.L. She enjoyed quilting and crocheting, gardening, and especially being out of doors and working on the farm.
Preceding her in death were her parents; two brothers, Rudolph and Arthur; a sister, Lorene Bolitho; and a brother-in-law, James Bolitho, Sr.
Survivors include her husband, Warren, of Horace, N.D.; her children, Patryce (Robert) Thomas of Royalton, Gretchen (Arlie) Radway of Howes, S.D., John (Sheree) Dubbels and Paul (Kursten) Dubbels, all of rural Fergus Falls, Mary B. (Roger) Schmidt of Gering, Neb., and Ruth Ann (Andy) Johnson of Bruce, Wis.; 11 grandchildren, Dylan, Dustin, Matt, Greta, Heidi, Jason, Derek, Rochelle, Kristofer, Kellan, and Elijah; five great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Oradell Bolland of rural Henning; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be directed to the Mission Fund at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sabin.
Visitation: Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service at the church
Service: 11 a.m. Friday, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Sabin
