Milford Strandlien

Milford Strandlien, 86, of Pelican Rapids, died Sunday, Feb. 10, 2008, at Good Samaritan Center in Pelican Rapids.
Milford Orville Strandlien was born June 17, 1921, in the rural Barnesville area, the son of Christian and Olga (Brusven) Strandlien. He was baptized and confirmed at West North Immanuel Lutheran Church, and attended country school near Pelican Rapids.
On Nov. 29, 1952, Milford married Edna Anderson at North Immanuel Lutheran Church. The couple made their home on the Strandlien family farm in Tansem Township near Pelican Rapids where Milford farmed until his retirement.
Milford also worked at the Kamrowski tree farm harvesting Christmas trees near Pelican Rapids. In 1996 Milford and Edna moved into Pelican Rapids. Edna passed away on Dec. 31, 1997. On Dec. 10, 2004, Milford entered the Good Samaritan Center.
Milford loved spending time with his family. He will be remembered for his sense of humor which he passed on to his family. Milford enjoyed fishing, woodworking, gardening, and reading, especially about steam threshers and antique tractors.
He was a member of North Immanuel Lutheran Church and the men’s Squares group, and held various church council positions over the years.
Milford is survived by his two sons, Steve (Sandie) Strandlien of Pelican Rapids, and Dale (Tammy) Strandlien of Glyndon; two daughters, Eileen (Bill) Osborne of Pelican Rapids, and Lori (Wayne) Frederickson of New Hope; 10 grandchildren, Shane (Rachael) Osborne, Erica Osborne, Jeremy Osborne, Kelly (Andrew) Evenson, Shyla Strandlien, Zach Strandlien, Krista Strandlien, Nina (Tim) Johnson, Tonya Poole, and Bill (Deb) Poole; nine great-grandchildren, Shantell, Ava, Kim, Natasha, Bailey, Emma, Andrew, Gage and Carson; a sister, Cora Kjer of Fergus Falls; two sisters-in-law, Edna Strandlien and Gladys Strandlien; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Edna; a great-granddaughter, Madison Osborne McLean; four brothers, Ernest, Harry, Robert and Julian Strandlien; two sisters, Hilda Jorgenson and Ruby Wahl; two brothers-in-law: Hjalmer Jorgenson and Kenneth Wahl; and a sister-in-law, Irene Strandlien.
Visitation: Friday from 4 to 7 p.m., with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the funeral home, and one hour prior to the service at the church
Service: 2 p.m. Saturday, at North Immanuel Lutheran Church, rural Pelican Rapids
