Sylvester Hopp

Sylvester “Butch” Hopp, 68, died Thursday, Feb. 14, 2008, at his home in Ottertail.
He was born Dec. 20, 1939, in Wadena County, the son of Michael and Josephine Hopp. He grew up in the Bertha area and attended school at Barrett Township School near Bertha. He worked for a silo company as well as for the lumberyard in Verndale. He retired in 1996, although he did later work for a short time at Crane-Johnson Lumber in Perham.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters: Frances, Cecelia, Margaret, and Rose; and brothers: Nicholas, Joseph, and Herbert.
He is survived by his brother, Raymond (Marcia) Hopp of Newport; sisters, Esther Holmquist of Wadena, Genevieve (Floyd) Reinhardt of Miller, S.D., Anna Kitzmann, Hastings, Catherine McAlpine of Mahtomedi, and Donna Mae Brekke of Cocoa, Fla.; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation: Today from 4 to 7 p.m., with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the funeral home, and one hour prior to the service at the church
Service: 11 a.m. Tuesday, at St. Edward’s Catholic Church, Henning
