Helen Klimek, 90, Urbank, MN
Helen A. Klimek, 90, of Urbank, died Friday, Feb. 22, 2008, at the Knute Nelson Memorial Home in Alexandria.
Helen Anna was born November 9, 1917 in Leaf Mountain Township to Anton and Martha (Klimek) Pischke. She was baptized and confirmed at the Church of Our Lady of Seven Dolors in Millerville.
She grew up in Leaf Mountain Township and attended Freske School District 215. Following her father’s early death, Helen, her sisters and mother, with the help of hired hands, continued running the family farm. On March 2, 1955, she married Leo John Klimek at Holy Angels Catholic Church in Buffalo, N.Y.
Following their marriage they farmed Leo’s family farm in Leaf Mountain Township. They remained together on the family farm until his death on May 31, 2003.
Following her husband’s death, she moved into Knute Nelson Memorial Home where she remained until the time of her death.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Urbank and its Christian Mothers and the Millerville American Legion Auxiliary Post 527.
Helen enjoyed gardening, playing cards, baking, sewing, when given the opportunity and taking care of her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Leo, son, Patrick, granddaughter, Margaret, sisters, Eleanor Schmidt and Lena Buschold.
Helen is survived by two daughters, Kathy (Mike) Ranweiler and Mary (Roger) Klimek, both of Brandon; a son, Charlie (Jodi) Klimek of Vining; seven grandchildren, Monica (Kyle) Karnes, Chris Ranweiler, Mark Ranweiler, Jessica Ranweiler, Brad Klimek, Jody Klimek and Eric Klimek; a great-grandson, Logan Karnes; a brother-in-law, Victor (Evangeline) Klimek of Clarissa; a sister-in-law, Victoria Dorn of Vining; many nieces and nephews; and her life-long grade school friend, Evelyn Koep of Parkers Prairie.
Visitation: Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m., with a prayer service at 6 p.m. and a Christian Mother’s Rosary at 7 p.m., at the church, and one hour prior to the service.
Service: 11 a.m. Wednesday, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Urbank
