Mildred Bjore

Mildred Bjore, 86, of Battle Lake died Sunday, Dec. 30, 2007, at Lake Region Hospital in Fergus Falls.

She was born Feb. 19, 1921, on the home farm in Aastad Township, rural Fergus Falls, the daughter of Ole N. and Marie (Lien) Fronning. Mildred had 10 older brothers. The 11th and 12th children were she and her twin sister, Myrtle. The youngest and 13th child was also a girl, Edna. Mildred was baptized and confirmed in the Aastad Lutheran Church and attended rural school District 118 in Aastad Township.

Mildred and James M. Bjore were married July 13, 1941, at her parent’s home in rural Fergus Falls. After their marriage, they lived on a farm by rural Wendell and in 1948, they moved into Wendell. In 1955, they began dairy farming and lived on two farms in Aastad Township during that time. In 1968, James and Mildred purchased a farm in Clitherall Township, rural Battle lake, where Mildred milked cows until she was 80 years old. It was always very important for Mildred to work with her husband and son and help with all aspects of their dairy farm. Jim and Mildred entered the Battle Lake Good Samaritan Center in July of 2005.

She was a member of the Helping Hands Sewing Club for more than 25 years. She had been a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church of Wendell, Aastad Lutheran Church of rural Fergus Falls and Trefoldighed Lutheran Church, rural Battle Lake, being active with the Ladies Aid groups in each church.

She enjoyed crocheting, gardening, canning, cooking and baking. Mildred’s specialties were lefse and homemade bread. She was passionate about work and was always busy. Mildred enjoyed her family and will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She is survived by her husband, James; two daughters, Janice (Reginald) Juven and Vivian Bjore both of Fergus Falls; one son, Marlin Bjore of Battle Lake; six grandchildren, Jerry (Sarah) Juven, Scott (Denise) Juven and Dustin (Kathy) Evenson, all of Fergus Falls, Tim Juven of Delano, Angela Juven of Fargo, and Dena (Kurt) Biederman of Crystal; seven great-grandchildren, Joshua and Matthew, Juven, Tabatha, Natasha, Samantha and Broc Evenson and Eve Biederman; one sister, Edna (Elmer) Guderian of Fergus Falls; one brother, Alfred (Mila) Fronning of Fergus Falls; three sisters-in-law, Ardis Fronning of Fergus Falls, Ruth Moore and Dorothy Bjore, both of Phoenix, Ariz.; a brother-in-law, Morris (Avis) Baasen of Barrett; and numerous nephews, nieces and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one grandson, Darren Evenson; a twin sister, Myrtle Baasen; and nine brothers, Nobel, Palmer, Alvin, Ernest, Leon, Melvin, Chester, Walter and Oscar Fronning.

Visitation: Friday from 4 to 8 p.m., with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service at the church

Service: 2 p.m. Saturday, at Trefoldighed Lutheran Church, rural Battle Lake
