Alice Carlson, 92, Fergus Falls, MN
Alice Carlson, 92, of Fergus Falls, died Monday, Jan. 7, 2008, at Pioneer Retirement Community in Fergus Falls.
She was born Sept. 7, 1915, in Rothsay, the daughter of Olaf and Mathilda (Rudh) Olson, one of seven children born to this farm couple.
Alice attended country school in Rothsay, went on to attend three years of high school in Rothsay, and one year in Breckenridge, where she graduated.
After graduation she attended Moorhead Teacher’s College. She taught in rural schools for the next four years before her marriage to Walter Carlson of Rothsay. They raised six children.
She and Walter farmed in the Carlisle area until 1985, when they moved to Fergus Falls. Alice began a new career in nursing after her children were born. She received her nurses training at the Fergus Falls State Hospital and worked as an LPN for 27 years. She retired in 1977.
Alice was active in various ministries at Rothsay Baptist Church and led numerous women’s Bible studies in the area.
She entered the Pioneer Care Center in February of 1996, where she resided until the time of her death.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Walter; three sisters; and two brothers; and a son-in-law, Randy Stinogel.
Survivors include her six children: John (Evalyn) of Willmar, Daniel (Delores) of Rochester, Steve (Karen) of Tulare, Calif., Phillip (Nancy) of Campbell, Calif., Peter (Carmosina) of Waxhaw, N.C., and Lois Stinogel of Fergus Falls; 14 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a brother, Olaf Olson Jr., of Fergus Falls.
Visitation: Thursday from 2 to 6 p.m., at Pioneer Home Chapel, and one hour prior to the service at the church
Service: 2 p.m. Friday, at Rothsay Baptist Church, Rothsay
