Lorraine Petersen, 81, Fergus Falls, MN

Lorraine Petersen, 81, of Fergus Falls died Friday, Jan. 11, 2008, at Lake Region Hospital.

She was born Sept. 11, 1926, in Carlisle Township, rural Fergus Falls, to Henry and Lydia (Hoelmer) Schierman. She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls where she was a lifetime member. She attended Trinity Parochial School and graduated from Fergus Falls High School in 1945.

On March 4, 1952, she married David J. Petersen at Trinity Lutheran Church. They lived in Sparta, Wis., and Campbell, before moving to their farm in Carlisle Township in the fall of 1953.

After their retirement, she moved into Fergus Falls and entered Pioneer Retirement Community in October of 2003.

Lorraine loved her family and especially her grandchildren whom she would often babysit. She enjoyed having friends and neighbors come over and spend time visiting. Her relationship with her Lord was very important to her.

She is survived by three sons, Mark (Betsey Pederson), Paul (Irene Scherer) and John (Laurel Nelson) all of Fergus Falls; six grandchildren, Erin and finance, Rick Swenson, of Fergus Falls, Nathan of Detroit, Mich., Adam (Monica) and daughter, Karlie, of Moorhead, Joseph and Samuel both of Fargo, and Andrew of Fergus Falls; a brother, Carlyle Schierman of Blaine; and a sister-in-law, Grace Skogen of Fergus Falls.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, David, in1999.

Memorials are preferred to Trinity Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls.

Visitation: Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home, and one hour prior to the service at the church
