Marie Bah

Marie Bah, 80, of Elbow Lake, died Friday, Jan. 18, at the ELEAH Medical Center in Elbow Lake.

Marie was born on June 13, 1927, near Elbow Lake to Egbert and Alma (Christians) Kruize. She attended school in Elbow Lake and helped on the family farm. Marie also worked as a waitress at the hotel and cafe.

On Nov. 28, 1945, Marie married Wallace Bah at Erdahl Lutheran Church in Erdahl. To this union, three children were born: Dennis, Bradley and Marlene. After their marriage, the couple farmed for a number of years before moving in to Elbow Lake.

In 1966, they purchased the M & W grocery store where Marie worked for nearly 20 years. In the late 1960s, they also purchased the Elbow Lake drive-in and operated that business for approximately three years. Wally passed away in March 1981.

Marie was a lifetime member of the American Legion Auxiliary and enjoyed traveling, bowling, sewing, crocheting, growing plants, feeding the birds, and spoiling her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Marie was very active in her community until 1994, when her health forced her to slow down. She was a 14-year survivor of lung cancer.

Marie is survived by her children, Marlene (Charles) Schrum of Litchfield and Dennis (Carolyn) Bah of Hutchinson; daughter-in-law Sandy Bah of Elbow Lake; 10 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Marion Haagenson of Litchfield.
