David Roger Solum, 57
David Roger Solum, 57, of Modesto, Calif., died Saturday, May 10, 2008, at his home.
David was born March 16, 1951, in Moorhead, the son of Arvid and Sodonna Solum. He moved with his family to Watsonville, Calif., where he attended school and grew to manhood, graduating from Watsonville High School in 1969.
He married Rebecca Almos. They made their home in Modesto where he worked as an RV salesman.
His hobbies included reading, crossword puzzles, golfing, fishing, listening to music and spending time with his wife, daughter and grandsons.
He was preceded in death by his father, Arvid Solum; step-father, Pat Gamel; a son, Michael; a daughter, Shannon; two brothers, Dennis Solum and J.C. Gamel; and a sister, Renae Hult.
Survivors include his wife, Rebecca; and the family dog, Sasha of Modesto; one daughter, Amanda (Aaron) Armstrong of Bagdad, Ariz.; two grandsons, Gavin and Kamron, at home in Bagdad; his mother, Sodonna Gamel of Barnesville; one sister, Layne (Roger Holland) Vollmer of Moorhead; four step-brothers Mike (Linda) Gamel of Saugus, Calif., Danny Gamel of Fresno, Calif., Hank (Nancy) Gamel of St. Louis, Mo., Bruce (Cheryl) Gamel of Mapleton, N.D.; four step-sisters, Mary Gamel of Merced, Calif., Pat (Bill) Tanner of Watsonville, Calif., Dianne (Ruben) Rivas of Fresno, Calif., and Jacque Drake of San Jose, Calif.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation: Two hours prior to the service at the church
Service: 10 a.m. Monday, at St. James United Church of Christ, Barnesville
