Arthur Wolter, 85
Arthur “Art” Wolter, 85, Brecken-ridge, died Monday, May 19, 2008, at St. Francis Healthcare Campus, Brecken-ridge.
Art was born June 23, 1922, near Breckenridge, the son of Herman and Emma (Engisch) Wolter. He grew up and attended school in Everdell, then continued living at home and farming with his family.
Art married Lorraine Kvidera on June 27, 1944, in Foxhome. The couple made their home on a farm north of Foxhome and lived there until 1948, when they purchased their farm east of Breckenridge where they have since resided. Art farmed until 1973. He was also a rural mail carrier for 13 years, retiring in 1991.
Art was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Breckenridge and Eagles Club Aerie #2749 in Wahpeton, N.D. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, mowing lawns, playing cards, tinkering in his shop and spending time with his family. Art and Lorraine always enjoyed going to dances, especially dancing and socializing with their friends at the Eagles.
Art is survived by his wife, Lorraine Wolter, Breckenridge; four children: Bonita “Bonnie” (Michael) Brunner, Minot, N.D., and their children, Shelly, Bobby, Randy and Ryan; Ronald Wolter, Crookston; Sharon (Ron) Leinen, Breckenridge, and their children, Heidi, Eric and Heather; David (Joyce) Wolter, Breckenridge, and their children, Kory, Leah and Rebecca; six great-grandchildren; sister, Gladys Graff, Minneapolis.
Art was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Emma Wolter; brothers: Alfred and Albert; sisters: Edna, Pearl and Delilah; grandson: Eddie Brunner.
Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., resuming from 8:30 to 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home
Service: 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Breckenridge
