Duane Anderson, Sr., 58, Elbow Lake, MN

Duane Anderson, Sr., 58, of Elbow Lake, died Friday, May 23, 2008, near Elbow Lake as a result of a motorcycle accident.

Duane was born June 9, 1949, on his family’s farm in rural Pope County near Hancock, to Arvid and Bernice (Toop) Anderson. Duane met Annette Tauer in New Ulm, and the couple married in Sisseton, S.D. In 1969,he was drafted into the U.S. Army and was stationed at Ft. Hood, Texas. He completed his basic training at Ft. Leonard Wood, Mo., and his AIT at Ft. Sill, Okla. Following his discharge in 1974, he returned to Minnesota.

Duane’s career in construction took him away from home during the week to many work sites.

On May 12, 2001, Duane married Kathy (Lohse) Weigand, and the couple resided in Delaware Township.

Duane was employed by Morical Bros. Inc. of Garfield in the gravel business and operated, "Rocky," the crusher. He loved each and every animal on his game farm. He was an avid sportsman who enjoyed trapping, hunting, fishing, and taking many drives throughout the country side looking for wildlife.

Duane loved his motorcycle and always looked forward to getting it out in the spring. He also enjoyed playing darts and league pool. During the off season from the construction business Duane enjoyed doing business on eBay.

Duane became a member of the Carl A. Hanson Post 321 American Legion in Elbow Lake about one year ago.

Survivors include his wife, Kathy of Elbow Lake; sons Duane (Jodi) Anderson Jr. of Hoffman, Jason (Kim) Anderson of St. Bonifacius, Clayton (Jill) Anderson of Herman, Brent Anderson of Underwood; daughter Koreen Anderson of Shakopee; a step-daughter, Tracy Weigand of Elbow Lake; and step-sons, Travis and Toby Weigand of Elbow Lake; eight grandchildren, Elizabeth Anderson, Gwendolynn Anderson, Tabitha Anderson, Cody Karst, Emma Anderson, Seth Anderson, Stephanie Anderson, and Alexa Anderson; siblings Mavis (Roger) Anderson of Starbuck, Koni (Randy Filzen) Goblirsch of Courtland, Juli (Pat) Reinhardt of Gibbon, Jody (Greg) Luckhardt of Balaton, Kevin (Tina) Anderson of Mount Carroll, Ill., Kenneth Anderson of New Ulm, and Melodee (Keith) Jones of Erie, Colo.; several nieces and nephews; and many close friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Arvid and Bernice Anderson; and two brothers, Dayton and LeRoy.

Duane was an organ and tissue donor.

Visitation: Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m., with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the church, and one hour prior to the service at the church

Military Service: 11 a.m. Thursday, at First Presbyterian Church, Elbow Lake
